Stop the bleeding: Apply direct pressure to the wound with a clean cloth.
Clean the wound: Gently wash the wound with mild soap and water. Avoid harsh scrubbing.
Apply antibiotic ointment: Put a thin layer of antibiotic ointment to help prevent infection.
Cover the wound: Cover the wound with a clean bandage. Change the bandage daily.
Cool the burn: Immediately cool the burn by holding it under cool (not cold) running water for 10-20 minutes.
Cover with a sterile bandage: Apply a sterile, non-adhesive bandage to the burn.
Pain relief: You can take over-the-counter pain relievers, such as ibuprofen or acetaminophen.
Seek medical attention: If the burn is severe (deep, large, or on sensitive areas), seek medical attention immediately.
